- What is PRP Therapy?
PRP Therapy utilises the bodies own ability to regenerate, heal and anti-age any treated area. The procedure is simple, safe and is very beneficial, achieving a natural result.
How It Works
So, how does PRP treatment work to give me younger looking skin? The procedure begins by extracting a small amount of blood from your arm. Don’t worry it’s less than 50ml.
Once the blood has been obtained, it is placed into a centrifugal machine. The force of the machine isolates the Platelet-Rich Plasma from the blood.
The plasma is then injected into the area to be treated using very fine needles. Your plasma contains those amazing cells called platelets, its your platelets that are responsible for releasing Growth factors that wake up your Stem cells causing them to transform, heal and produce new cells. This, in turn results in a youthful looking glow. The plasma may also be mixed with Hyaluronic acid which works wonders on fine lines and wrinkles and delivers a shot of moisturisation and volumisation to the skin.
PRP for hair restoration works when your blood has been taken and placed in the centrifuge the plasma undergoes “activation” using DNA activators. It’s also enriched with calcium ions, such as calcium chloride. Once the PRP has gone through this process, an injection applies it to the area that requires hair loss treatment.
What Results Can You Expect? Lets keep it simple..
Like many types of therapy and medical treatment, there are no guarantees when it comes to PRP treatment. Each case is individually assessed and whilst there are no guarantees there have been amazing results. It can take some time to see meaningful results after starting the therapy.
How many procedures are needed?
Everyone's needs are individual depending on the area to be treated. Your practitioner will discuss this with you during your consultation. The standard protocol is at least 3 treatments per year dependant on the area treated your own, individual circumstances. Hair restoration requires more treatments.
Is the procedure painful?
Whilst we make every effort to keep the treatment as comfortable as possible there may be a mild discomfort from the injections and a tingling sensation. This is a normal part of the healing process. A mild erythema (redness) may be visible for a few hours after the treatment.
What results are expected?
The treatment will give you and instant "glow" on the days following the procedure and the magic begins as the process of the new cells formation starts. You will continue to see improvement over the next 30 to 90 day days as you produce new cells in the treatment area.
